1.  Describe a learning activity in which your students have used technology collaboratively. Post your description to the blog. Share the actual product at your next technology learning session.

  1. Think of a concept or idea that you teach in your class. How can you use a nonlinguistic representation featured in chapter five to better engage your students? Post your answer.

We hope that your work session on November 4 goes well and that it is productive and fun!

Our next reading assignment from Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works includes reading Chapters 1-2.  Once you have read the chapters, please respond to the following prompts and post your responses on the blog:

  1. In a short paragraph, list one of the strategies or pieces of technology described in Chapters 1 and 2 that you would implement in your classroom and explain how you would use it.  Also, share something you read that made an impression on you.
  2. Please share a thoughtful response to another member's post (something more than "I agree...").

Hello, Awtrey Teachers! Welcome to the Awtrey Middle School Technology Blog! This blog will serve as an online forum to discuss our ideas related to using technology in the classroom. To help guide our discussion, we will be reading Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works.

In preparation for the October 15 ER day, please complete the following:

  1. Read the introduction on pages 1-15.
  2. What does the research say about using technology in the classroom? 
  3. Look at the table on page 12. Choose three categories of technology that you would like to focus on for the November 4th Cluster Day.
