Sixth Grade Advanced Content Language Arts

Finished discussing the Charles Dickens' short story "The Lawyer and the Ghost." 

Review elements of fiction and figurative language usage in the story.

Homework:  Study for a quiz on this story; the quiz will be given on Thursday, May 14, 2009.

Finish discussing the novel Fever, 1793 and review information for a test which will be given on Thursday, May 14, 2009.  (The test will take place on this date because Field Day make-up is Wednesday, May 13, 2009.)

Last Call for Missing Assignments (verb packet on -ir verbs, -re verbs, -er verbs, imperatives; workbook exercises on pages 51-55).

Nota Bene:  We will have a review on Friday and a test over material in Chapters 7 and 8 on Monday, May 18, 2009.  Your final will be on Thursday, May 21, 2009.  See me before or after school if you are having trouble with any concepts.

Sixth Grade Gifted Language Arts

Read "The Lawyer and the Ghost" on page 479 in Literature Text.

Evaluate figurative language, determine vocabulary understanding, and check comprehension using the techniques we practiced last week.

Be prepared to discuss the elements of fiction as they apply to this short story.

Finish reading the novel (Fever, 1793).

Complete assignment 6 (questions on Chapters 26 through the epilogue).

Warm-Up:  Set up for restaurant skit presentations.

Review Chapters 1-20 of novel (Fever, 1793).

Homework:  Study for a quiz over the chapters reviewed in class.

Finish script for skits.  Final copy due to me no later than homeroom on Wednesday, 5/6/09.

Begin to practice dialogue for presentations on Monday - Tuesday (5/11/09 through 5/12/09).

Homework:  Last call for any missing assignments - extra verb practice on -er verbs, aller, avoir, prendre, faire, or ĂȘtre, verb packet for three types of French verbs, and pages 51-53 in workbook. Most of these assignments have been given out at least twice and are excessively overdue.
