6th GRADE CONCERT TOMORROW!!
The 6th graders will have their premiere performance tomorrow evening, Thursday November, 13th~
Please have your students here no later than 6:30pm and the concert will start promptly at 7:00pm.
Bring your cameras!! You will be given photo opportunities!!
Hope to see you there!!

7th and 8th GRADE CONCERT ON DECEMBER 9th!!
Mark your calendars now! We will have their concert on Tuesday Evening. Please make every effort to be in attendance as band performances are required and are the culminating event of your students' hard work in class!

SPECIAL ENSEMBLES CONCERT ON DECEMBER 16th!
Come and Hear the Jazz Band and Full Symphony Perform! Sure to be a great concert!!

JAZZ BAND!
ON-TIME ATTENDANCE is absolutely necessary for all rehearsals! Please be in the front of the school no later than 8:00AM on Tuesdays and Fridays. For those Jazz Band Members planning to go on the Orlando trip, the initial deposit of $110 is due November 19th. Please email us at awtreyband@yahoo.com with any questions/concerns!

Jazz Band: Tuesdays 8:00am-9:00am, Fridays 8:00am-9:00am
Full Symphony: Mondays from 8:00am-9:00am,                                                         Wednesdays from 4:15pm-5:45pm
Woodwind Ensemble: Mondays from 4:15pm-5:15pm
Saxophone Ensemble: Thursdays from 4:15pm-5:00pm

Apparel Price Change

Our Band Apparel supplier has just contacted us with a price change for the Hoodie! The price is now $19.95!

If you have already purchased one at the price of $22.00, the bookkeeper will be working on re-embursement checks if needed. If this applies to you and you would rather not worry about the $2.05, let me know!

7th grade finished up their playing tests over pg. 42

8th grade Reviewed out of the White Book

6th Grade continued learning CORRECT procedures for producing a sound on their instrument. We also worked on correct posture, hand position and finger placement.

6th Grade Parent Meeting Tonight!

Our 6th Grade Band Parent Meeting is tonight at 6:30 in the theater. Please plan on being in attendance if possible!

7th Graders are having their first playing test over pg. 42, concert Bb, in their red books.

8th Graders need to make sure that they have all materials required for class EVERY DAY: Their Music Folder (provided to them by us), a BLACK 3-ring binder, Page Protectors, a Pencil and Their Band Book.

Important Info!!

WELCOME 6th GRADE!!

6th Graders DO NOT need instruments until MONDAY, Aug. 25th.

6th Graders started in band yesterday and we're still in the process of getting all schedules settled. We will be starting the "HANDBOOK PROCESS" today. Your students will be coming home with a student information sheet that needs to be completed and returned, as well as an order form for their concert uniform. Please take a look at the handbook and the forms along with it.

ATTENTION 6TH GRADE PARENTS!! We will be having a 6th Grade Band Parent Meeting on Tuesday, August 26th, at 6:30pm in the theater here at Awtrey. Please plan on attending this meeting as we will be going over important information for you and your child. Your student does not need to be in attendance!

ATTENTION 7th and 8th Grade Parents: If you were not able to be in attendance at the Parent Meeting last week, we will be going over the same information, briefly, TONIGHT at open house. Please keep in mind that we need volunteers for Fundraising and Chaperoning this year. Those sign up sheets will be posted during Open House.

WELCOME BACK!!

Band is Back!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: 7th and 8th Grade Parents! We are having a band parent meeting on Thursday evening at 6:30pm in the Theater. Please plan on attending! We will be going over the band handbook with the major concert dates, as well as discussing some changes in the band program! We hope to see you there!

ATTENTION STUDENTS: 7th and 8th Grade band members need to make sure your instrument gets to school on Thursday! We have many exciting things planned this year and would hate for you to miss out on your first day playing after the break!

All 7th and 8th Graders will be receiving their Band Handbook and the Handbook forms for this year within the next couple of days. Please spend some time looking over these papers and come to the parent meeting on Thursday with any questions. Also, the forms for 7th and 8th graders will be due this Friday.

6th Grade Parents! Your children will be cycling through the Fine Art Classes, trying out different instruments along the way. They received a salmon/pink colored form today during connections. When you and your child decide which class they would like to sign up for, please return this form to one of the connections teachers. The 6th Grade students will begin their connections classes next wednesday, so the faster you get your form in, the better chance you have of not missing a beat (no pun intended) in the first few classes!

Final Push for First Semester!!

Congratulations to 6th Grade!! Your first concert was great and we are very proud of the progress that you have made!!

HONOR BAND AND ALLSTATE AUDITIONS ARE THIS SATURDAY. If you are auditioning for  Honor Band or AllState, you need to be at Dodgen Middle School at least 30 minutes before your scheduled audition time. If you have not already received your audition time, please see Miss Johnson or Mr. Sessoms for that information.

The University of Georgia Honor Band is coming up Dec. 6-8. If you are involved in this, you should have already turned in all permission and medical release forms. The $30 Registration Fee is due and the Hotel fee will be due next week before we leave. Please refer to the UGA Packet for answers to any questions or feel free to contact us at awtreyband@yahoo.com.

ATTENTION ALL 7th and 8th Grade Band Members: Your Winter Concert is on TUESDAY (Dec. 4) at 7:00PM. The 7-1 Band needs to be on stage no later than 6:30pm, the 7-2 band needs to be in their roped off section no later than 6:45pm, and the 8th grade band needs to meet in the Band Room no later than 7:00pm. All 7th Grade band members should wear their band polo shirt with khakis and dress shoes. 8th Grade band members should wear black pants or long skirt, white shirt/blouse/sweater (Guys wear a tie!) and black dress shoes and socks. All Band Members (7th and 8th) will be allowed to wear Holiday hats as long as they are not distracting! :)

We have a special concert coming up on Dec.18th. On this night, the Jazz Band, Vivace Orchestra, and Select Chorus will be performing. It is sure to be an exciting concert event that we would encourage all to attend! Remember! If you are not participating in the concert, you can receive 2 extra points on your final grade for attending the performance!
