CRCT Review

SS8CG4 The student will analyze the role of the judicial branch in Georgia state government.

a. Explain the structure of the court system in Georgia including trial and appellate procedures and how judges are selected.

b. Explain the difference between criminal and civil law.

c. Describe the history of the juvenile court.

d. Compare the juvenile justice system to the adult justice system, emphasizing different jurisdictions, terminology, and steps in the criminal justice process.

Review of Government

Students were given instructions on a new online assessment test which is due no later than Friday for a quiz grade. We then reviewed last weeks vocabulary quiz. After the review we read and discussed how the General Assembly works. As we read and discussed we defined terms on our new vocabulary (Government Vocabulary II) sheet.

Homework:

Read page 539 and create a 10 question quiz any style from this reading. Complete the online CRCT test sometime this week.

Today in Georgia History:

March 26, 1962 The U.S. Supreme Court issued its Baker v. Carr ruling which established the legal precedent that apportionment of state and legislative districts was subject to the 14th Amendments "Equal Protection" clause. Though the case arose in Tennessee, it set in motion a series of federal court cases involving Georgia;s county unit system and the states system for allocation representation in the General Assembly.
