This week we will be working with similar figures. We began with vocabulary and matching corresponding sides/angles. We will be using this knowledge to set up and solve proportion problems later this week. We will be calculating the lengths of missing sides of polygons. The information can be found in chapter 7 of the textbook. We will be using this as well as many other examples from other sources. Students will be writing more specifics in their agendas each day.
This week we will begin our study of measurement. We will be working with the metric system and the customary system. Our first lessons will be to identify units of measurement as customary or metric. Then we will learn how to convert units within the metric system and later the customary system. Using our texbook and workbook the material will be located in the first half of chapter 9. There will be no assessment this week, only instruction, but look for a quiz early next week.
