Wrapping up the Year

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

In the midst of special activities and events, we will review and strengthen math concepts foundational to next year’s math curriculum.  We will also preview some concepts to be covered early on in Math I so students will have some familiarity.  These primarily have to do with what are called “Parent Functions.”

========================

<<Other notes and information>>

1. We will have a test on systems of linear equations tomorrow.  The focus is on solving them via the elimination/ combination method.

2. Here’s hoping the weather is clear enough for field day on this coming Friday, May 8th.

3. Please make your plans to attend the 8th grade event on Friday evening, May 15th.

Final Quarter -- Week 6

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

>Agenda:  4/27 – 5/1/2009<
CRCT Testing is complete.  The remainder of this week will be devoted to learning how to solve systems of equations using the elimination method.  This method is more algebra intense and will strengthen students’ skills in preparation for the Math I curriculum they will pursue next year.

<<Other notes and information>>

1. Progress reports went home today.  Please review with your student, sign and get them returned.

2. Some students received letters explaining an attached registration form for CRCT summer school.  This is a provisional move to ensure students at risk for failing to meet  expectations on the math CRCT will have a reservation for the free CRCT summer school.  These need to be completed and returned tomorrow.

3. The Holt Mathematics 3 textbook can be accessed on-line by going to http://my.hrw.com and entering the username: vikings5 and the password: m9n6
